Chiara splashed around in the fountain at the river front in Spokane's downtown.
August 2007 Archives
Still in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard, Chiara runs around with Zoe the dog.
Uncle Steve and Chiara attempt a duet, but Chiara figures out that sometimes noise is better than music.
Chiara, playing the part of Winnie the Pooh, throws a rock and a pine cone into the creek.
Chiara sings "I have my pretty dress on!", with improvised lyrics and piano.
Chiara sings "My girl, you're my girl, my child, my ?? child" while playing piano and reading music.
Continuing with pictures from our trip in June...
We rented a car and drove from city to city in our travels. Our longest trip was the drive from Portland to Spokane. We stopped at Multnomah Falls, but Chiara did not seem particularly impressed. She had been hoping that there would be something fun for her to do, and all we did was walk and look at the falls. We also stopped to visit Uncle Willy and Aunt Pegi on our way. We spent some time in their yard doing art and playing with water.
In Spokane, we visited Grandma and Grandpa. It was warm summer weather so we visited a park, and the riverfront with the carousel and the fountain. We also had dinner with Aunt Becky, Justine, Lee, Courtney and Great-Grandma.
Back in Seattle, Chiara visited the Children's Museum in the Seattle Center. We also visited the Children's Museum in Everett, but I can't find our pictures from there. (Updated Aug. 12 - It turns out we still have pictures from our trip in our camera.) If you're ever in Everett, it's worth a visit! Chiara visited the Seattle Center fountain and the beach. And we managed to squeeze in a trip to Olympia to see some friends. Chiara saw her friend Camille again, and they had a great time together.

We made a whirlwind trip to the US in May and June this year. We felt like we didn't have enough time in any of the cities we visited, but it was great to be able to see family and friends again (where possible).
First stop: Abuela and Abuelo's house in Seattle where we recovered from jetlag. Chiara was happy to see her grandparents, as always.
In Portland, we were able to visit with Great-Grandma and other members of the family. A highlight of visiting Portland was going to the zoo where Chiara had been many times before. Chiara also got a chance to spend some time with Aunt Nancy and Uncle Steve, and sing songs on the piano - a favorite with her.
We visited Jameson Park with our friends Karen, Abe and Jack. Chiara and Abe are friends from when we were living in Portland. It was great to see them, and the kids had a good time splashing in the water.

During the Easter holidays, we visited the Gruga Park in Essen with Bertold and Nicola, and Ulrich, Nina and Rosalie. It was a very warm day and the wading pool was Chiara's favorite place there.
Summer came and went again. In late May we got a spell of colder weather. But Chiara always likes getting out to explore.
